Around 27,000 sacrificial animals worth Tk250 crore have been sold across the country through online cattle marketplaces ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) General Secretary Abdul Wahed Tamal in a virtual media briefing unveiled the data on Friday.
The data was collected through a survey conducted among e-CAB members, Bangladesh Dairy Farmers' Association (BDFA) and other platforms who sold cattle using digital platforms.
Of the total sales, e-CAB members sold 6,800 cows, dairy farmer members sold 9,500 cows, while government launched digital cattle market (haat) sold 500, e-commerce platform at district level sold over 5,000 cows.
Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on Saturday.
