The newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal has taken charge of Bangladesh Navy.
Shaheen replaced former Navy chief Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury, and the transfer of responsibility event was held at the Naval Headquarters on Saturday , said a statement by the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) .
Principal staff officers of the Naval Headquarters, all regional commanders, managing directors of dockyard/shipyard, and senior naval officers were present at the event.
Vice Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal joined the Bangladesh Navy on June 1, 1980, and was commissioned in the Executive Branch on December 1, 1982.
In his long career which spans over 40 years, Shaheen has demonstrated exemplary military prowess.
He is well known to naval officers and sailors for his professionalism, honesty, and dedication, read the ISPR statement.
Shaheen has represented Bangladesh multiple times in the international maritime arena.
