A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has brought back 417 Bangladeshi nationals from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Biman spokesperson Tahera Khondoker confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
The passengers returned were stranded in Riyadh due to the imposed travel restrictions to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
The flight departed from Riyadh and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 7:00am on Thursday.
All the returnees held construction jobs in Saudi Arabia and were sent into home quarantine after thermal screening at the airport, a health official at the airport said.
On July 3, 415 Bangladeshis returned to Dhaka from Saudi Arabia by a special chartered flight of Biman.
A total of 1,636 Bangladeshis returned from Saudi Arabia between June 21 and July 16.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far facilitated the repatriation of stranded Bangladeshis from China, India, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Oman, and Turkey.
These repatriation flights have brought back many, including pilgrims, students, tourists, patients and their attendants, and businessmen.
The ministry said they are fully committed to working under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, particularly through these critical times of the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
