Bangladeshis refused entry to Italy return home

Italy recently banned entry from 13 countries including Bangladesh over coronavirus fears

As many as 377 Bangladeshis, who were refused entry to Italy, have returned home on a Qatar Airways flight. The flight landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 2:35am on Friday. 

Of them, 147 were sent to institutional quarantine at Brac Learning Centre located in Ashkona, adjacent to the airport, said Dr Sajjad Shahriar, the airport's health officer.

Italy recently banned entry from 13 countries including Bangladesh over coronavirus fears. 

A total of 1,455 Bangladesh nationals returned home from six countries on six separate flights in the last 24 hours. 

The five countries are Saudi Arabia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mali, Italy, and Maldives. Most of the returnees were stuck in these countries owing to the travel restrictions enforced due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
