A total of 162 Bangladeshi citizens have returned home from Singapore, where they were stranded due to the Covid-19 forced flight suspension.
A special flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying the passengers landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal Intentional Airport (HSIA) around 7:30pm, confirmed an airport security official.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, US-Bangla Airlines General Manager (public relations) Kamrul Islam said: “We brought back the stranded Bangladeshis in collaboration with the Bangladesh and Singapore governments.
“All those who have returned had health certificates saying that they are free of the deadly virus.”
A large number of Bangladeshis were stranded in different parts of Singapore for the last four months due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
All the returnees were sent into home quarantine after thermal screening at the airport, said an airport health official.
Earlier on June 24, as many as 262 Bangladeshis returned home in a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
