2 more doctors die of Covid-19

As of Wednesday, a total of 47 doctors have died from coronavirus across Bangladesh

Two more doctors have died from Covid-19 infection across the country.

In Dhaka, Dr Md Ali Asgar, 70, a retired government doctor, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the capital’s Asgar Ali Hospital around 3:30pm on Tuesday.

In Chittagong, Dr Md Samirul Islam Babu, 51, lost the battle with coronavirus while receiving treatment at the Chittagong Metropolitan Hospital around 2:15pm on Wednesday.

Separate press releases were issued in this regard by the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) on Wednesday.

Dr Samirul served as an assistant professor for the department of orthopaedic surgery at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). 

He was first admitted at the CMCH on June 21 and later transferred to Chittagong Metropolitan Hospital for better treatment. 

The deceased doctor was a student of Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College and a lifetime member of the BMA.

With the latest developments, as of Wednesday, a total of 47 doctors have died from coronavirus and as many as 4,095 health service providers – 1,268 doctors 1,119 nurses, and 1,628 staff members – have been infected by the deadly virus in Bangladesh.
