Fifteen members of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) left Dhaka on Wednesday by a C-130J aircraft to transport essential medical aids from South Korea.
Air Commodore Syed Sayeedur Rahman of BAF led the team, said a press release of Inter Service Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission.
Armed Forces is conducting various activities under the direction of the prime minister to prevent coronavirus in compliance with the policies published by the government.
In line with this, the Armed Forces adopted a plan to collect medical aids including mask, negative pressure machine, detection kit and PPE provided by some non-governmental organizations which is initiated by the Defence Wing of Bangladesh Embassy at South Korea in co-operation with the South Korean Government in order to strengthen the coronavirus prevention system of Bangladesh.
A BAF transport aircraft C-130J left for South Korea to serve the purpose of collecting medical aids, said the release.
Bangladesh Air Force is providing emergency aviation transportation and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) support in aid to civil power under the Armed Forces Division to prevent coronavirus.
For the outstanding efforts of South Korean Government in combating coronavirus and for their sincere support to various affected countries of the world including Bangladesh to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Bangladesh Government sent some souvenir items by the said aircraft.
It is expected that the plane would return to Bangladesh on Thursday with medical aid.
