More Bangladesh citizens, stranded in the USA amid coronavirus pandemic, are scheduled to return home on Sunday afternoon.
The special flight of Qatar Airways QR 3458 is scheduled to depart John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport in New York for Dhaka via Doha on Saturday, reports UNB.
From Doha the flight QR3390 will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 4:45pm on Sunday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has taken up an initiative in coordination with Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C and Bangladesh Consulates in New York and Los Angeles to repatriate stranded Bangladeshi citizens from the U.S.A. by the second special flight of Qatar Airways in the midst of Covid-19.
The flight will be operated by maintaining all health guidelines relating to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, said the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington.
Earlier on May 17, the first special flight carrying over 200 Bangladesh citizens arrived here from the USA.
2nd flight to bring stranded Bangladeshis from London June 13
The government in coordination with Bangladesh High Commission in the United Kingdom (UK) has arranged second chartered flight from London to bring back Bangladeshi nationals who have been stuck in the UK amid flight suspension due to Covid-19 pandemic.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft will depart from Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport at 10am (London time) on June 13 carrying stranded Bangladeshi nationals, a press release issued by Bangladesh High Commission in the UK said on Saturday, reports BSS.
The mission urged all intending passengers to register through the Bangladesh High Commission London link – https://forms.gle/qFXRvriFCLUUVV857 – to secure their seats at the flight.
The release said seat arrangement of the flight will be made maintaining social distancing while the ticket prices were fixed at 600 pounds for economy class and 1435 pounds for business class.
On May 11, the government first brought back 114 stranded Bangladeshi nationals from London on a special chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Apart from UK, Bangladesh so far repatriated stranded Bangladeshis from the US, Canada, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Other countries, including India, the UK, India, Japan, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Bhutan, Myanmar, and different European countries also operated several special chartered flights amid the flight suspension to repatriate their citizens from Bangladesh.
On May 25, Bangladesh extended the ongoing ban on flight operation for the seventh consecutive time till June 15 over the coronavirus fear while it resumed flights on domestic routes on June 1.
Australia plans another chartered flight for its citizens June 10
Australian High Commission in Dhaka has arranged another special flight for its citizens which will leave Dhaka on June 10, reports UNB.
Due to a change in the commercial flight schedule from Colombo to Melbourne, the special flight from Dhaka that was planned for June 13 will now depart Bangladesh on June 10, said the High Commission.
They have emailed all passengers with the revised schedule.
The special flight was initially scheduled for May 28.
