The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra are advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one after a depression formed over the Southeast Bay and adjoining Andaman Sea.

In a special weather bulletin on Friday, the Met Office also said the depression is likely to intensify.

The sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice.

Meanwhile, the Met Office also forecasts that rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind would likely occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions.

A mild heat wave sweeping over Khulna division and the regions of Madaripur, Rangmati, Rajshahi, Pabna, Barisal and Patuakhali may abate from some places.

The day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Friday’s highest temperature was recorded 37.2°C in Jessore and lowest 20.6°C in Kushtia.

Besides, the highest rainfall was recorded in Ishurdi upazila of Rajshahi division.
