A special flight has brought back another 164 Bangladeshis from India, who have been stranded in the neighbouring country due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The US-Bangla Airlines from Chennai landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 2.44pm on Thursday, a senior security official of the airport confirmed Dhaka Tribune.
After the coronavirus pandemic unfolded, the private airlines have facilitated the return of 1,052 Bangladesh nationals from India through operating special flights in line with the Bangladesh High Commission’s initiative.
According to reports, at least 2,500 Bangladeshis, including students, tourists and those who had gone for medical purposed were stranded in different Indian cities, especially in Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.
