Nagad has come to the aid of business organization staff of Narail who have been unemployed due to the lockdown, enforced to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, Mashrafe Mortaza, the Narail 2 constituency parliamentarian, urged Nagad, the digital financial service of Bangladesh Post Office, to help the needy people in this time of crisis.
Responding to the lawmaker’s call, Nagad distributed daily essentials to 1,000 families on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara inaugurated the aid distribution program at Narail Government Victoria College.
Commending Nagad’s initiative, Mashrafe said: “I am hopeful that the wealthy people will stand beside the poor people during this turbulent time.”
Narail Superintendent of Police Md Jasim Uddin requested local representatives to maintain transparency in distributing government relief and warned that stern action will be taken against anyone involved in any irregularities.
A team from the Bangladesh Army was present during the distribution to ensure social distancing.
