Amidst the spread of deadly coronavirus, the planned visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Japan was postponed, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said on Tuesday.
The visit of United Nations Secretary-General Amina J Mohammed to Bangladesh has also been rescheduled due to the same reason.
Hasina was scheduled to leave for Japan on March 30 on a two-day official visit.
The visit will take place later and Japan also agreed to the postponement, said Dr Momen.
Meanwhile, the two-day visit of the Deputy Secretary-General of the global body has been postponed, UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Mia Seppo told Dhaka Tribune.
Amina Mohammed was scheduled to arrive in the country today on a two-day visit.
“The visit is not going ahead tomorrow (Wednesday),” said Seppo.
