The Legal Aid Sub-Committee of Bangladesh Women's Association formed a report comprising news from 14 daily newspapers of the country which shows thatan alarming 337 women and children were tortured and raped in February of 2020.
Of the total number, 114 were raped, of which 74 were children.
Among the 114 people 80 were raped, 24 gang-raped, nine killed after being raped, one committed suicide and 19 were victims of rape attempts.
Other than these, six people have been violated, 10 sexually tortured and 14 have been subjected to eve teasing.
Four people have been burned, two of whom died.
13 people have been abducted and one person has been trafficked.
Nine women have been tortured for dowry, of whom three died.
43 women and children have been killed for various reasons and 16 have been physically tortured.
22 out of 28 who were tortured in various ways committed suicide and 19 died mysteriously.
Two people have been subjected to Fatwa.
There have been 18 instances of underage marriage where 16 were stopped. One has been forcefully married and seven others fell victim to cyber crimes.
Other than all these nine other women and children have been tortured in unspecifiedways.
