Actor and director Hridi Haq has announced her debut film project based on the Liberation War of Bangladesh. Popular actors Pori Moni and Sudip Biswas Deep have already been cast to play the lead roles.
Deep has previously acted in the HBO Webseries HBO Asia and will pair up with Pori Moni for the first time. The government funded film has been titled 1971 Shei Shab Din.
Haq said to Bangla Tribune: "I have been developing this project for a while now. I thought Pori Moni would be the ideal fit for the lead role, so I approached her, and she agreed."
Haq's film shooting began yesterday in Thakurgaon.
Haq has previously worked in television and theatre. Her mega serial Amader Anandabari received praise from audiences and critics alike. She also has done acclaimed plays like Rajkonya and Icaruser Dana.
1971 Shei Shab Din has notably received a government grant in the full length film category for 2018-2019.
