President, PM mourn Sir Abed’s death

Both expressed deep sorrow to Sir Abed's bereaved family members

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, the founder of Brac.

In a condolence message issued on Friday, Sheikh Hasina said the country suffered an irreparable loss at Fazle Hasan Abed's death, reports UNB.

The prime minister said Fazle Hasan Abed had played an important role in creating mass opinion in favour of Bangladesh's Liberation War and raised funds from different European countries, including the United Kingdom in 1971.

She prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sorrow to his bereaved family members. 
 
In a separate message, President Abdul Hamid condoled the death of Fazle Hasan Abed and expressed deep sympathy for his bereaved family members. 
 
Sir Abed, who was undergoing treatment for brain tumour at Apollo Hospital, breathed his last on Friday night at the age of 83.
