Former British prime minister David Cameron has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban.
“Cameron met the premier at 10am Thursday,” PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokon told the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier, he arrived in Dhaka around 10pm Wednesday on a Thai Airways flight on a whirlwind maiden visit.
Cameron will join a roundtable of International Growth Centre (IGC), a UK-based organisation working in promoting sustainable growth in developing countries by providing demand-led policy advice based on frontier research.
He is currently holding the post of chairman of IGC.
Cameron, who was prime minister of Britain from 2010-2016, will also pay a visit to a DFID-funded project and a garment factory here.
