The gunfight took place early Sunday leaving four policemen injured as well, reports the UNB.The deceased is Tareq Hossain, member of a gang named “Bashar Bahini”, a resident of the village.Lakshmipur Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Junayet Kawser said police, on a tip-off, carried out a drive in the village around 3am to arrest Tareq, where he stayed along with his accomplices.Sensing the presence of the team, they opened fire on them, forcing the police personnel to fire back that triggered a gun battle.Tareq was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot though his associates managed to flee the scene, the ASP also said. Police sent the body to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.One lighter gun and six rounds of bullest were recovered from the spot.Tareq was wanted in several cases, including murder and extortion, the ASP added.
