The fair will be held at the Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel which will remain open for the visitors from 10am to 8pm.
National tourism organisation BTB, airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, financial institutions and others working in the travel and tourism sector will showcase their products and services at 68 stalls and five pavilions during the fair.
As before, the participating organisations will offer attractive packages and discounts for the visitors during the three-day fair which will end on April 1. The event will also consist of seminars on tourism.
The entry fee has been fixed at Tk30 per person. Entry will be free for media representatives, children under 12 years and visitors with disabilities.
DTM is being organised for the fourth time by The Bangladesh Monitor – Bangladesh's premier travel and tourism English fortnightly.
Kazi Wahidul Alam, editor of The Bangladesh Monitor, formally announced the hosting of DTM 2017 at a press conference held at a city hotel on Saturday.
Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir, chief executive officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), and Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, managing director of US-Bangla Airlines, also spoke at the press conference.
Private airline US-Bangla Airlines is the title sponsor of the event.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on title sponsorship of DTM 2017 was signed between The Bangladesh Monitor and US-Bangla Airlines at the beginning of the press conference. Senior officials from both organisations were present on the occasion.
“Dhaka Travel Mart, over the years, has been able to establish itself as a platform of mutual cooperation among the organisations in tourism sector from home and abroad. At the same time, the fair provides an opportunity for tourism lovers to choose their required products and services available,” said Kazi Wahidul Alam.
A raffle draw on entry coupons will be held on the concluding day of the fair. Winners will be awarded with lots of gifts including air tickets to domestic and international destinations, accommodation at star hotels, lunch and dinner packages at reputed restaurants.
