The number of vacant posts under various ministries is now 359,261, Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam told the parliament on Tuesday.
"Letters have already been sent to all ministries and divisions requesting to fulfil the vacant posts soon," he said replying to a starred question from treasury bench lawmaker Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh.
Ashraful said the recruitment to the vacant posts in the government offices is a continuous process.
In reply to another starred question from ruling party MP Golam Rabbani, the minister said a total of 48,246 first class posts under different ministries and government agencies remain vacant, along with 54,294 second class posts, 182,737 third class posts and 73,984 fourth class posts.
