Hindu idol vandalised in Munshiganj, 3 detained

The incident took place at the residence of one Uttam Kumar Sarkar of Khidirpara union who hosted the Saraswati Puja. Louhajang police station's Officer-in-Charge Md Anisur Rahman said a band of youths had gone to Uttam's house and demanded they be provided with beer. This led to an altercation with those present at the site. The youths beat up four people and vandalised the idol, police said. One of the victims is a Secondary School Certificate examination candidate. Sreenagar circle's Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam said the injuries were minor. Police visited the site on Thursday. “Several youths tried to run away seeing us but we managed to detain three of them with the help of locals,” he added.
