What state facilities are freedom fighters entitled to?

Freedom fighters are considered the greatest children of this nation. They braved their lives and put everything on the line for a liberated Bangladesh. The lack of combat experience and weaponry did not dent their prodigious will to take the fight to the overwhelming enemy in the Pakistan army. Since liberation, freedom fighters have been acknowledged by the government and allotted various levels of stipends and other state benefits. In the case of their demise, their family is provided with the stipend. According to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, the government allocated TK240 crore this year for freedom fighter allowances. And over the past three years, the government has spent around Tk5,316 crore for freedom fighter allowances.The government currently provides allowance to 180,000 freedom fighters. Prior to an increase in 2014, the allowance was limited to Tk3,000 per month. The raise increased the allowance to Tk10,000. Furthermore, families of freedom fighters living in city corporation territories have 125litres of daily water bill waived. Houses owned by martyred or injured freedom fighters have 1,500 sq ft of holding taxes, double-burner gas oven, and 200 units of electricity bills waived. AKM Mozammel Haque, minister of liberation war affairs, said: “This government believes in the spirit of Liberation War and takes care of those who risked everything for our independence. We provide miscellaneous support aside from the monthly allowance.
