Border Guard Bangladesh on Saturday destroyed different types of illegal narcotics worth Tk220.40 crore at BGB 2nd battalion headquarters of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
Besides, contraband cigarette of Myanmar worth around Tk1.15 crore was also destroyed during the time.
Sources at the BGB 2nd Battalion headquarters said the paramilitary force seized those illegal drugs and cigarette between April 4 and October 24 this year.
The illegal drugs and cigarettes were demolished in presence of senior BGB officials, including its region commander, Cox’s Bazar’s additional chief judicial magistrate, additional superintendent of police and Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer, said the battalion’s Commanding Officer Lt Col ASM Ariful Islam.
He said the illegal drugs and cigarettes were recovered in abandoned condition.
Recovered illegal contraband drugs included more than 7.3 million pieces of Yaba tablets, 1.6 tons Ganja and 19,730 beer cans.
