NHRC chief 'regrets' misbehaviour of its official and member with journalists

The NHRC commission chairman has warned its member Enamul Hoque Chowdhury and decided to take action against Assistant Director Joydev Chakraborty after both behaved rudely with reporters during and after a meeting between RMG labour rights activists and the NHRC chairman on Tuesday.

In a media statement issued on Wednesday, the NHRC said it would take departmental action against its Assistant Director (complaints, monitoring and mediation) Joydev Chakraborty. “The NHRC chairman has scolded commission member Enamul Hoque Chowdhury for his misconduct and asked him to be careful in future,” the commission's Public Relations Officer Farhana Sayeed told the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.NHRCletter

During the meeting, the NHRC chief said that he would speak to the RMG owners and the government high-ups so that the workers involved in the recent demonstrations in Ashulia of Savar were not harassed.
