PM Hasina: Stand up against all forms of injustice

Recalling the historic lessons from the Holy Ashura, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged all  to stand up against injustice. On this day in the Hijri year of 61, Hazrat Imam (RA), the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), along with his family members and 72 followers embraced the martyrdom at the hands of Yazid's soldiers at the desert of Karbala to uphold the teachings of the Prophet (SM). “The Holy Ahsura is a significant day in the history of mankind. The day is very important to all Muslims around the world,” she said in a message issued on the occasion of Ashura on Sunday, reports BSS. Hasina also urged all to establish truth and justice in all spheres of life.International Day of Older Persons With the world observing International Day of Older Persons on Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a different statement said it is imperative that initiatives be taken by the state, society and family to ensure the well-being of the elderly. About her government’s steps for the elderly, she said they had enacted the National Policy for Older Persons 2013 and the0 Parent's Care Act 2013 in addition to providing old age allowances. Apart from health services, the government has increased allocations to each sector of social security and took numerous initiatives to expedite the provision of health care to older people. This year's theme – “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society” — underscores the contributions of older persons, implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, which is currently undergoing its third review and appraisal process.
