He made the remark following a comment over Section 57 by speakers at a seminar on Human Rights Day 2016, organised by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) at CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka.
He said the ICT Act was implemented in 2006 to legalise electronic signature in the country, and later Section 57 was added as an amendment in 2013. But as Section 57 is faced with severe criticism around the country, the government is enacting a new law which would leave no scope for any criticism.
About disappearances caused by law enforcement, he said the government would take strict actions against extra-judicial killings or oppressive activities by law enforcers if sufficient information is provided.
The government is committed to establishing the rule of law in the country, and extra-judicial killing is an obstacle in the way of achieving that goal, the minister added.
