Kamal Abdul Naser Chawdhury, the incumbent senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's principal secretary, according to an order issued by the ministry on Sunday.
He will succeed the current principal secretary, Abul Kalam Azad, whose tenure ends on December 1.
From December 31, he will be go on pre-retirement leave.
Kamal became a senior secretary at the ministry on March 19, 2014 after serving as a secretary at the Ministry of Education.
A BCS cadre of 82nd batch, he was born on December 31, 1957 in Comilla.
He also writes under the pen name of Kamal Chawdhury and has published 15 books of poems and a number of academic journals, and edited two anthologies.
