Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mohammad Nahid Islam recently issued a demi-official (DO) letter to all secretaries of government ministries in a bid to curb unethical lobbying practices.
In the letter, issued on December 24, 2024, the adviser expressed concerns over unscrupulous people using his name or claiming familial ties with him to influence various government offices for personal gain.
"Recently, certain dishonest people and groups have been invoking my name or claiming to be my relatives to engage in lobbying for personal benefits, which is entirely unethical. Such actions are tarnishing my reputation," Nahid said.
The letter revealed that forged documents, including recommendations purportedly signed by the adviser, have come to light.
The adviser has requested all relevant authorities to disregard any such attempts made under his name or using fake endorsements.
Authorities have been instructed to immediately inform RHM Alaol Kabir, the adviser’s personal secretary (Deputy Secretary), if any lobbying attempts occur or if forged applications bearing the adviser’s signature are submitted to government offices or affiliated organizations.
In the demi-official letter, the adviser emphasized the government’s commitment to reflecting the aspirations of the public and implementing comprehensive state reforms with urgency.
He also urged government officials and employees to actively cooperate with these efforts.
