Of the 40,000 comments, the majority of them lambasted Ronaldo for being disrespectful towards a religious figure and insulting Buddhism in the process.The Sun reported that the Buddha head in question was bought for his house in Madrid.The same photo received 1.3 million reactions on Instagram with over 14,000 comments.While some calmly reprimanded the footballer– to the extent where a comment chastised him as if he were a child – most comments were from angry Buddhists.The outraged fans denounced their fondness for Ronaldo, demanded he take the photo down and apologise for it.
