The month-long '6th National Sculpture Exhibition' started under the management of the Fine Arts Department under the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
On Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 4 pm, the sculpture exhibition was inaugurated by Sharmeen Soneya Murshid, the Advisor of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs. Bengal Foundation Director General Luva Nahid Chowdhury; renowned sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan and Chittagong University teacher sculptor Atiqul Islam were present as special guests.
The very first sculpture exhibition was organized in 1982 under the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with the aim of continuously encouraging and developing the practice of sculpture.
There was a VR (Virtual Reality) version of the exhibition inaugurated on the same day.
The month-long National Sculpture Exhibition is going to be held for the 6th time this year. This year's exhibition will display 178 works of art in different categories by 159 artists. The exhibition will run at the National Art Gallery Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from December 21, 2024 to January 20, 2025 from 11 am to 8 pm daily (closing time is 3 pm). The exhibition will be open to all.
