The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has reduced the consumer-level price of furnace oil (HFO) to Tk109.10 per litre from Tk113.54 per litre, with the revised rate taking effect from July 1.
The energy regulator announced the decision in a press release on Tuesday, saying the price adjustment was made following a review of international fuel prices and movements in the exchange rate.
According to BERC, the revision was made under the provisions of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003, after considering proposals submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and the country's state-owned oil marketing companies.
The commission said on February 22, 2026, it issued an order determining the consumer price of furnace oil supplied by BPC, along with storage and supply charges, marketing charges for oil distribution companies and integrated transportation costs.
To facilitate periodic price adjustments, BERC formed a committee on March 15 this year.
The committee reviewed the import prices of refined furnace oil between May 13 and June 29, the free-on-board (FOB) prices of crude oil during May and June, and fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate.
It also said the detailed order on the revised furnace oil pricing has been uploaded to its official website.
