Food Minister Qamrul Islam has observed that the 16th Amendment verdict of the Supreme Court has denounced Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s leadership in Bangladesh’s struggle for independence.
“The leadership of the Liberation War has been misrepresented. Bangabandhu has led us through the long 23 years’ struggle for independence from ‘52 to ‘71. This has been denounced by the 16th Amendment verdict,” he said.
The minister came up with the remarks at a discussion meeting at the Savar upazila headquarters on Friday. The upazila administration organised the event to mark National Mourning Day on August 15.
Qamrul also observed that Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha had become a BNP favourite after the verdict.
