BNP senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman has called upon supporters to continue the party's anti-government movement “at any cost.”
“Unite the people in your areas, discuss among yourselves, strengthen the party's foundation and pounce in action with full might,” he said in a press conference in London on Sunday.
The press release was issued after Awami League won the 10th parliamentary elections by a landslide margin held on Sunday.
More than half of the 300 constituencies were elected uncontested where Awami League bagged 127 without the participation of main opposition BNP.
BNP claimed that a low turnout in the polls proved the people's rejection to the “farcical” elections. Now, Tarique Rahman called for post-polls movement.
“All the people in the country now want BNP's success so that we can uproot these autocrats,” he said, adding: “We will not compromise one bit.”
“If all our supporters participate in the movement wholeheartedly, then Inshallah, no power in the world can stop us from reaching success.”
Tarique Rahman is currently living in the United Kingdom for treatment purposes.
Earlier, he had broadcast a video message on Saturday, a day ahead of the elections, and called supporters to unite and thwart the “farcical” elections.
