Adviser Asif: No scope to rehabilitate fascists in politics before justice is met

Adviser for Youth and Sports, and Labour Affairs, Asif Mahmud has said that there is no opportunity for the rehabilitation of fascists in politics until their trials are fully concluded.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, he expressed concerns over attempts to reintegrate defeated fascist forces into politics, though he did not specify any political parties.

Mahmud emphasized that the decision on whether fascists should be allowed to participate in politics is up to the people.

He indicated that the government has yet to finalize measures on banning public programs by fascists but assured that such actions would be discouraged.

The adviser noted that the Law Ministry has already taken steps to ensure trials for crimes against humanity. In response to a query about the potential banning of the Awami League, he deferred to the will of the public.

Additionally, Mahmud announced the formation of a Review Commission to address short-term demands from workers across all sectors, which will include representatives from both workers and owners.

The commission will focus on immediate issues but will not tackle long-term demands such as wage or labor law reforms.
