Islami Andolan demands PM’s resignation

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, also known as Charmonai Pir, has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader have taken the students' quota protests to a dangerous level by making provocative remarks.

Terming the deaths a clear genocide from a press conference at its central office, he said that the premier, her Council of Ministers and the Awami League must take responsibility for this. They have to answer to the countrymen for this.

Earlier, IAB expressed solidarity with the movement on July 6, when the BNP, AB Party, and Ganatantra Mancha, among others, made statements supporting the cause.

Rezaul Karim yesterday said: "More than 200 students, including women and children, have been killed in the unprecedented repression of the students' movement demanding quota reforms, which is increasing every day.”

He said that while resisting the movement, the government carried out Israeli-style barbaric brutality on the people. This kind of brutality cannot be perpetrated on the people of any civilized and free country. Immediately resign responsibility for the genocide and hand over power to the national government.

The Charmonai Pir also condemned the arrests and torture of the opposition political leaders.
