Menon: US trying to change govt after failing to set up base in Bangladesh

Rashed Khan Menon, president of the Workers Party, said that the United States is now trying to change the government after failing to set up a base in Bangladesh.

"Foreign pressure is the feature of this election. In particular, the United States has shown interest in elections. But they could not hold this interest till the end. Their main target is not the election of Bangladesh. The US aims to establish bases in the Bay of Bengal inside and outside the territory of Bangladesh,” said Menon.

He said this at a press conference held in Barisal city at 11:30am on Sunday.

Rashed Khan Memon is the candidate of the 14-party alliance from Barisal-2 (Banaripara-Ujirpur) seat.

Menon said: "The United States has been applying pressure for a long time regarding the establishment of the base. Not being able to reach that goal, they are moving forward with the goal of government change.

“For this reason, it is the responsibility of all of us to complete the elections in a peaceful environment. His party will fulfill their responsibilities for this,” he said.

At this time, he clarified the issue of participating in the election from the alliance.

Rashed Khan Menon said that he will participate in the election with the boat symbol.
