After failing to get permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold a rally in Dhaka Tuesday, Jamaat-e-Islami has declared that it will organize a rally in the capital on Friday.
Nurul Islam Bulbul, ameer of Jamaat's Dhaka city south unit, made this announcement during a press conference in the capital.
However, the venue for the rally was not disclosed at the press conference.
On July 24, Jamaat announced its plan to hold a rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to advocate for its three-point demands, which included holding the next general national election under a caretaker government.
However, last night, DMP informed that permission for the rally would not be granted, citing intelligence reports suggesting the possibility of subversive activities during the event.
