Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) did not give permission to Jamaat-e-Islami to hold a rally, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
Earlier, the organization had written to the DMP office on July 25 seeking permission for the rally.
Taking everything into account, the DMP has made it clear that the Jamaat is not being allowed to hold a rally.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of police for Motijheel division Hayatul Islam confirmed the information on Monday afternoon.
He said: "Jamaat was not allowed to hold a rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital on Tuesday."
“August is a month of national mourning. Jamaat is not allowed to gather on the first day of this month.”
If they try to gather at the venue violating DMP's decision, legal action will be taken, warned the DC.
