The senior leaders of Ganatantra Manch are considering Gana Adhikar Parishad's exit from the Ganatantra Manch as an upsetting development in the political arena of Bangladesh.
They said the Gana Adhikar Parishad leaving the coalition at a final stage of the movement will give encouragement to the government.
Saiful Haque, general secretary of Revolutionary Workers Party, expressed this in a press conference at Segun Bagicha in Dhaka on Sunday evening. After the conference an emergency meeting was held.
Saiful Haque said: "It is sad that the Gana Adhikar Parishad has left the Manch. At a time when the opposition parties are continuing their efforts to strengthen the mass struggle on the streets, Gana Adhikar Parishad's activity is sending a negative message and creating confusion."
He also added: "When the government and the government party are trying to create division in the movement, without any political dissent, this step will encourage the ineffectiveness of the government party. This step also raises many negative questions about them."
Saiful Haque said: "Now the Gana Adhikar Parishad has to answer the questions raised about them by playing a positive role in the democratic struggle against fascism."
Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna said: "Now we are at the stage of a final movement and any activity to create confusion and disunity in the movement must be faced unitedly. He urged all concerned to play a role in the movement."
Before the press conference, Gana Adhikar Parishad's Member Secretary Nurul Haque Nur and their leaders met the Ganatantra Mancha leaders and explained the party's position.
In this regard, Nurul Haque Noor said: "We went before the meeting of the Ganatantra Mancha to inform them about the exit of the platform."
In the meeting, a rally was announced in front of the Shahbag National Museum with 14-point demands including the overthrow of the illegal ruling government on May 12, and free, fair, impartial and participatory elections under the interim government.
