Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that strict organizational action would be taken against the party members who worked against its interest during the recent Union Parishad elections.
"A list of those who were involved in misdeeds and tarnished the image of the party in the UP elections is being compiled and strict organizational measures will be taken against them," he said while speaking virtually at the triennial council of Natore district unit Awami League in the morning.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, directed the central leaders present at the council to identify and punish those who had been involved in election violence.
He said that all the development of the country would be ruined if the party leaders and activists got involved in any conflict before the next general elections.
He said that the BNP was in a ditch after failure both in winning the elections and waging a movement to oust the government.
Accusing the BNP of conspiring against the government, Quader said that the people would foil such ill attempts.
"The Awami League will win the next general elections by a huge margin," he said.
