Manzur Al Matin, a member of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee delegation in Sunamganj, has said that the government must compensate for the damage done to homes of Hindu community in Dowarabazar of Sunamganj.
He accused Indian media of spreading false information and rumours regarding the attack on the Hindu community in Dowarabazar.
He said that the true events must be uncovered by the police, and those involved in the attacks must be brought to justice.
He also emphasized that Bangladesh is now a country of Hindu-Muslim unity.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday after visiting Manglargaon in Dowarabazar Upazila, he made these remarks.
Manzur Al Matin further said that when there was an attempt to attack Hindu households in Dowarabazar over an alleged desecration of the Holy Quran, local mosque imams and clerics came forward to protect them. "This incident will serve as an example across Bangladesh."
At least a couple of temples were reportedly ransacked, and numerous homes and shops belonging to Hindus were vandalized in Manglargaon, a remote village in Dowarabazar upazila of Sunamganj, following a Facebook post on Tuesday night, locals say.

As protests broke out, the man had been detained for his own safety. The situation was brought under control after army personnel intervened, supported by local leaders and religious representatives.
