Cyclone Dana: One killed by falling tree branch in Barguna

A man was killed when a tree branch fell on him during strong winds caused by Cyclone Dana in Barguna's Betagi upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Ashrab Ali Howlader, 61, a carpenter and resident of Kismat Karuna village.

According to witnesses, Ashrab Ali was on his way to work when a Chambal tree branch snapped during the storm and struck him.

Locals rushed him to Betagi Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead by Dr Pinjar Kumar Biswas.

Ashrab's eldest son, Afzal Howladar, said his father was heading out to work when the accident occurred.

"A branch fell and hit him on the head. I was devastated to hear the news," he added.

Betagi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ekramul Haque confirmed the death and said legal steps will be taken after an investigation.
