Russel Mridha, a student of Solakura Islamia Alim Madrasah in Singra upazila of Natore, has overcome extraordinary challenges to pass his Alim examination by writing with his toes.
Despite his severe physical limitations—having no hands, only one leg, and that too much shorter than normal—Russel has achieved a GPA of 3.29 in the results published on Tuesday.
The principal of his institution, Maulana Md Motarraf Hossain, confirmed Russel’s achievement.
He said: "We ask for everyone’s prayers so that Russel can become established and serve the country and the nation."
Russel, the son of day laborer Abdur Rahim Mridha, previously passed both the Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) and Dakhil exams.
Russel credits his success to his parents and teachers, saying: "My parents have contributed the most to my education. Alongside them, my teachers have also helped me a lot. I want to pursue higher education and serve the country and the nation."
His father, Rahim Mridha, who has been working as a day laborer to support Russel’s education, said: "Seeing my son’s interest in studies, I have been supporting him however I can. One day, he will make us proud. We are very happy with his results."
Rahim added that despite financial difficulties, he is committed to ensuring Russel’s access to higher education.
His only request to the government is for support in securing Russel a government job after his studies to ensure a stable livelihood.
