Vessel operations halted in coastal areas due to bad weather

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended vessel movement in the coastal areas, citing inclement weather.

Ehteshamul Parvez, public relations officer of the BIWTA, confirmed the suspension on Thursday.

All vessels operating on routes from Dhaka to Hatia, Betua, Khepupara, Charmontaj, Rangabali and Monpura have been ordered to halt operations until further notice, he said.

Meanwhile, local cautionary signal number 3 has been raised at all seaports.

The decision was made due to rough conditions in rivers in the coastal regions, which pose serious risks to vessel navigation.
