The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 as the deep depression over Northwest Bay and adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal moved slightly north-northwestwards and now lies over the same area.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain closed to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, said a special weather bulletin on Monday morning.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay.
Gusty or squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The depression now lies about 705km west-southwest of Chittagong port, 685km west-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 525km west- southwest of Mongla port, and 550km west-southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction and may cross the Odisha coast near Puri.
It maximum sustained wind speed within 48ems of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain rough near the system centre.
