Considering the ongoing situation due to the quota reform movement across the country, Chittagong University (CU) has called an emergency syndicate meeting and decided to close the university indefinitely.
The syndicate meeting was held online on Wednesday morning.
The closure was confirmed by the university's proctor, Dr Ahidul Alam, at 1pm.
According to the syndicate's decision, dormitories for women students must be vacated by 6pm on Wednesday and other dormitories by 6:30pm.
The syndicate also instructed the provosts to seal off all the rooms.
To facilitate students leaving the campus, shuttle trains will run on a regular schedule from 2:30pm until night, as reported by the proctor.
Additionally, the syndicate has expressed concern over incidents of teachers and students being injured at various universities across the country.
