Two suspected members of the armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) members were sent to jail on Friday afternoon after their two-day remand period ended.
Asselon Cheo Bom, 19, and Vannun Nuam Bom, 23, accused in a case filed with Thanchi police station in Bandarban, were produced before the Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court amid tight police security.
Later, the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Nurul Haque passed the order.
Sub-inspector (SI) of Thanchi Police Station Samir Bhattacharya said the two accused were produced before the court after a two-day remand in a case filed with Thanchi Police Station. They have been sent to jail.
A Bandarban court on Tuesday sent seven members of KNF including the president of Ruma upazila Chhatra League unit.
On April 2, the separatist group kidnapped Bandarban’s Ruma upazila branch Sonali Bank manager Md Nezam Uddin and tried to loot Tk1.5 crore from the vault of the branch. But they were unable to take the money.
They also carried out robberies at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank branches in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on the following day.
