Six crude bomb-like objects were recovered from Kushtia's Islamic University between Thursday night and Friday morning.
After recovery, the objects were kept in buckets filled with water at the nearby Islami University police station to neutralize them.
Members of the proctorial body of the university visited the spots in the morning.
According to the sources of the proctorial body, two objects were recovered from the pocket gate area adjacent to Lalon Shah Hall of the university on Thursday night.
Apart from this, one object was recovered on Friday morning in front of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall of the University, two in the area adjacent to the Faculty of Business Administration building and one in front of the international block of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.
Proctor Professor Dr Shahadat Hossain Azad said: "The proctorial body, with the assistance of the police, went there and retrieved the objects and handed them to the police station. Aside from that, a special team will arrive from Kushtia.”
Miscreants might have placed the crude bombs to create fear among the students of the university, the proctor said.
Islami University police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamun Rahman, also confirmed the recovery of the objects.
When asked about the matter, IU Vice Chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam said, “We have informed the police and they will look into the matter.”
Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police (admin and media) Polash Kanti Nath said they were looking into the matter.
Action would be taken against those found involved in the incident, he added.
