RAB arrested 17 members of new militant group Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya and three members of armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) following a 12-hour sting operation in the area adjacent to Remakri Bridge in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila.
A large amount of local and foreign weapons, bomb-making equipment, ammunition and Tk7 lakh cash have been seized during the operation.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin said that 27 out of 55 youths who left their homes influenced by extremism in the name of new so-called Hijrat have been brought under the law. RAB's search for the rest 28 people is ongoing.
Earlier, 38 members of Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were arrested. With the new numbers, the law enforcement agencies have arrested 55 members of the new militant organization.
