BNP-police clash in Netrokona: Prime accused arrested

Police on Saturday arrested the prime accused in the case filed over the BNP -police clash in Netrokona. Abdullah Al Mamun Khan Roni, vice president of Gazipur District Jubo Dal, was arrested from his relative’s house in Gazipur’s Naozor are.

Police have so far arrested 15 BNP activists in connection with the clash.

On Thursday, at least 30 people, including 13 cops, were injured in a clash between BNP activists and police in Netrokona.

According to the police, vehicular movement was suspended in the district’s Chhoto Bazar area as BNP activists started to gather in front of their party office to celebrate the 44th founding anniversary.

BNP activists attacked the police when they tried to free up the road. 

Police later had to use tear gas and fire blank shots to bring the situation under control.

Khandaker Al Mamun, sub-inspector (SI) of Netrakona Model police station, filed a case accusing 33 leaders and activists of BNP and 500 unidentified people on Thursday.
