Man's auto-rickshaw torched for protesting daughter’s harassment in Lakshmipur

The battery-powered auto-rickshaw of a man has been set on fire for protesting the harassment of his daughter at a village in Lakshmipur.

Mohammad Ibrahim, the autorickshaw driver, lodged a written complaint against his neighbor Mohammad Sharif with Sadar model police station on Sunday, demanding justice.

The incident took place at Piarapur village under Bhabaniganj Union on Saturday night.

According to the complaint, Ibrahim used to park his auto-rickshaw at night in front of Sharif's house for almost a year.

During this time, Sharif often sexually harassed his school-going daughter. For this, several arbitration meetings were held against Sharif.

Sharif had previously threatened to set Ibrahim’s vehicle on fire following the meetings.

Ibrahim said: “Sharif has burned my auto-rickshaw. I don't know how I can feed my family without my only source of income."

Sharif's mother Amena Begum rejected the allegation:

"My son did not threaten Ibrahim about burning down the vehicle. He only said that we will face difficulty if someone else parks a vehicle in front of our house.”

Jasim Uddin, a member of Bhabaniganj Union Parishad's ward nine, said that he had advised Ibrahim to take legal action.

Sadar model police station is investigating the matter
